We hope that you think our cast are as talented and endearing as we do, but the intention is that this film strikes a deeper chord; one which reminds us of the realities that those seeking asylum in the UK face.
Yesterday the Government released its quarterly migration statistics, which show that in September 2016, 37,958 asylum seekers in the UK were receiving support from the Government’s National Asylum Support Service – and were entitled to accommodation and/or financial support of less than £6 per day.
The report also reveals that so far in 2016, 45% of appeals made by asylum seekers were allowed, indicating that the system currently in place is struggling to adequately assess the needs of asylum seekers.

Made for Goodness
In July we produced Made for goodness – A faithful response to the refugee crisis. The briefing provided context and information on the refugee crisis, biblical reflection and suggestions for an effective response. It said:
The UK asylum system must be fairer, less punitive, and not put asylum seekers at risk of destitution. As the government develops its programme of resettlement direct from one affected region it is seeking to devalue and restrict the asylum system in the UK. This is legally and morally problematic.
