JPIT’s Constituency Action Network (CAN) is a network of churches across the UK who are committed to building meaningful relationships with their MP and working with them to speak and act for peace and justice. Our goal is to establish a network of at least one church in every Westminster constituency in England, Scotland and Wales.
Many Churches are experts in social action and local issues, running food bank, warm spaces and more. However we can take our work one step further by challenging systems that allow people to fall upon hard times in the first place by engaging with politics. We believe this is best done in a way which priorities relationship, listening, kindness and truthfulness, and working positively with MPs whether we voted for them or not.
CAN Churches are offered resources and training from the Joint Public Issues Team, in order to help them on this journey.
CAN will look different for every church, and the amount of time you spend on the project will vary. Our hope is that each church community will get involved in the right way for them, and JPIT will provide flexible resources to help you!
