Sanctuary Sunday is the final Sunday in Refugee Week. This year it takes place on Sunday 22nd June.
The theme of Refugee Week 2025 is ‘Community as a Superpower’.
Sanctuary Sunday is a moment to both celebrate the voices and experiences of refugees in communities and churches around the U.K. and to commemorate those who have lost much – sometimes even their lives – due to inhospitality, danger and abuse. To find out more, visit the Refugee Week website.
There are resources to help churches to mark Sanctuary Sunday on the Methodist Church Website as well as a series of Sanctuary Stories offered by Scottish Faiths Action for Refugees.
A new short film has been produced by the Methodist Church showing the power of being part of a welcoming community. Churches are being encouraged to show it in services this Sunday, 22 June, which is Sanctuary Sunday. You can watch the film here:
