Stories

The Bible is full of stories about refugees. Welcoming and loving those in need is central to the Christian faith. We have collected stories from refugees and Churches supporting refugees to see how this plays out today:

The Asylum and Refugee Community

A story sent by Rev John Howard-Norman of Wesley Hall Methodist Church, Blackburn about their weekly drop-in:

The story of the ‘arc’

The Methodist Church in Birmingham and Citizens UK Birmingham

We spoke to Revd David Butterworth about the work being done by Birmingham Churches in response to the refugee crisis:

Birmingham churches’s response

The Refugees’ Story

A story for use at Christmas time by Phil Jump:

The Refugees’ Story

Supporting Asylum Seekers in Wakefield

Flora Davis from Wakefield Baptist Church tells the story of work with asylum seekers in Wakefield:

Wakefield Baptist Church’s story

 Ayana’s Story

A Very British Nativity was inspired by the story of a young woman named Ayana, 26, who left her home country of Eritrea over eleven years ago. You can read some of her story here:

Ayana’s story

If you think you have a story about your church that could give guidance to others who are eager to help please share it with us:
