Vince’s Story

You are here: Home / Poverty and Inequality / What will you do to end homelessness? / Vince’s Story

Vince really appreciated the support that 57 West gave him. Check out 57 West’s website for more details on how they ensure they welcome people. He thinks that this could be a big help to others, restoring their faith in humanities, if more churches provide this welcome.

Providing counselling is one big area which Vince says could help end homelessness. Many churches have started counselling services. See, for example, the work of Communicare, set up by Christ Church United Reformed and Methodist Church in Uxbridge.

Vince says that churches should campaign for change in the housing system. One great example of a church doing this is Ilford Salvation Army. To find out more see this case study from the Church of England.

Vince also argues that churches should involve people with lived experiences of homelessness in all their discussions.
