The Joint Public Issues Team and Housing Justice teamed up for a webinar on the effects of Covid-19 on homelessness outreach this winter, and to explore what churches can do to respond to homelessness when some traditional church responses – like night shelters – are harder.
At the panel our guests discussed the changes in experiences of homelessness over the course of lockdowns and the pandemic. It’s essential that homeless outreach matches the need of those accessing it, rather than starting trying to make the need fit how we have traditionally responded to the homelessness crisis.
We also discussed policy landscape and shifting our provision away from temporary fixes and towards long-term need.
