Elections in Scotland

In Scotland, local elections being held on 5 May, 2022. All 32 council areas are included.

Local councils in Scotland provide social care and education services, waste management, and housing and planning. They provide transport services and coordination and also have responsibilities to care for the environment.

Some of the briefings below will be of interest in local elections. Even where local councils have no direct power to make decisions that affect the whole of Scotland, there is still great opportunity to influence how government policy is implemented locally.
