Advent 2019

Find Advent resources produced for 2019 here.

Join in as we tell the story of advent on social media every day during December.

God’s plan for Jesus birth was a radical one. As God decided who and when and how, people who were never before part of the story were cast in the scene.

When we dig in to the story of Jesus’ birth, we encounter the people kept on the margins by society. Here, the stranger and the outcast are invited in. The ‘ordinary’ are offered extraordinary times.

And these are those people who turn out to be the messengers of the most important story ever told.

Now, as we gather round the manger once again, how might the unlikely messengers of God’s story be revealed to us today? God created space for the wealthy and the lowly, the curious and surprised, the expectant and confused, the local and outsider. Around Jesus, there is space to welcome all. Could we be part of this now?

As you follow the star throughout December, join with us in looking deeper at what the radical message of this story could be, and the unlikely people we hear it from today.

Reflection materials for group or individual study, to unpack the what the nativity can tell us today. Each reflection tells someone’s story from today, and explores what this tells us about God’s message of transformation.

Week One: Unlikely Messengers

Week Two: The Outsiders

Week Three: Home

Week Four: All Are Welcome
