As a customer of your company, I am very concerned about the involvement of British brands in reports of forced labour in China. I am glad to hear that you take the risk of forced labour in China’s Xinjiang region very seriously and have taken steps to ensure that you are not sourcing from that region.
However, it is not only in the Xinjiang region that there is a risk of forced labour. Uyghurs are regularly transported to other regions to work in factories which was reported by the BBC in 2021. In an effort to wipe out their religion and culture, Uyghurs are subjected to ‘political thought education’, transported in their hundreds and held at the factory they end up working in.
What are you doing to reduce the risk of your factories across China benefitting from this forced labour?
